The Buzz - StoreLab Newsletter April 2026

Welcome back to the StoreLab Newsletter 👋

We’re back with another round of exciting updates designed to make your Shopify mobile app faster, more intuitive, and easier to manage day-to-day.

This month’s release focuses heavily on improving how customers discover products, how you manage your content and assets, and how you drive engagement through key features like loyalty and push notifications.

We’ll walk you through what’s new, why it matters, and how these improvements can help create a smoother in-app experience for both you and your customers.

Let’s get started!

1 - Predictive Search for Faster Product Discovery

What did we change and what’s the value?

We’ve introduced predictive search across all mobile apps, delivering relevant product suggestions in real time as customers begin typing.

Search is now faster, more responsive, and far more intuitive. Instead of needing to complete a full query, customers can quickly identify what they’re looking for as suggestions appear instantly with each keystroke. This reduces friction, keeps users engaged, and creates a smoother and more responsive browsing experience from the very first interaction.

By surfacing relevant products earlier in the journey, predictive search also helps guide discovery more effectively. Customers are able to explore options with less work, making the path from search to product clearer and more efficient.

This means customers can find the products they’re looking for faster, spend less time searching, and move effortlessly towards purchase, increasing the likelihood of conversion.

What problem did this solve?

Previously, customers had to type full search queries before seeing any results, which could slow down the browsing experience - particularly on mobile. This added friction that was especially noticeable when app users were unsure of product names and spelling, often interrupting the natural flow of discovery.

With predictive search in place, results begin appearing instantly as shoppers type, removing unnecessary steps and making product discovery feel quicker, smoother, and more aligned with how users naturally search.

2 - Media Library - Easier, Faster Asset Management

What did we change and what’s the value?

We’ve redesigned the Media Library into a dedicated modal and introduced a range of improvements to make managing assets far more intuitive:

  • You can now view images in different sizes or switch to a list view for clearer visibility, depending on how you prefer to browse your assets.
  • Sorting and filtering tools make it quicker to locate specific images, especially in larger libraries.
  • Images can be previewed in a larger view, including dimensions, so you can confidently select the right asset before adding it.
  • You can download images directly from the library, making asset reuse more straightforward.
  • It’s now clearly visible which image is selected, removing any uncertainty during the selection process.

The result is a much clearer workflow when managing your media - you can now reuse assets with ease, spend less time searching for the right images, and build beautiful app pages faster.

What problem did this solve?

Before we introduced this enhancement, the Media Library was limited and difficult to use. Images were hard to view, there was no way to sort or organize assets, and simple actions like renaming, downloading, or deleting images were not possible. It was also not always clear when an image had been selected.

These limitations made it harder for merchants to effectively manage their media, slowing down everyday workflows and making page building less intuitive.

3 - Loyalty - Clearer Progress and Easier Rewards

What did we change and what’s the value?

This update builds on our recent in-app loyalty program improvements. This month, we’ve enhanced the experience to make progress more visible, rewards easier to understand, and the overall journey more structured, engaging, and intuitive:

  • A new hero section shows your points balance, progress towards the next reward, and any VIP tier status.
  • Rewards are now clearly grouped into Available and Almost Yours, helping customers understand what they can redeem and what they’re working towards.
  • Customers can now easily switch between Ways to Redeem and Ways to Earn without leaving the page.
  • Expanded rewards cards show progress towards locked rewards, making goals feel more achievable.
  • A clearer redemption flow with confirmation and instant voucher access improves confidence when redeeming rewards.

Together, these updates make it smoother for users to take action within the in-app loyalty program. Store owners, like yourself, can benefit from seeing that this helps drive stronger customer participation by making rewards feel accessible and motivating.

What problem did this solve?

While the core loyalty functionality was in place, progress, rewards, and earning opportunities weren’t always surfaced in a clear or intuitive way. Customers didn’t always have a strong sense of what to do next or how close they were to unlocking rewards.

This made the experience feel less exciting or guided than intended, which is why we wanted to prioritize this enhancement. We found that there was an opportunity to better guide users through their journey and highlight what to do next throughout the loyalty flow.

4 - Push Notifications - Greater Control and Flexibility

What did we change and what’s the value?

We’ve introduced a set of improvements that give you, as a Shopify merchant, more control over how you create, manage, and review push notifications:

  • You can now edit scheduled notifications without needing to cancel and recreate them, saving times and reducing unnecessary repetition.
  • Push notifications can be filtered by delivery date range, so it’s quicker to find specific campaigns.
  • Campaigns can be sorted by key metrics such as delivery count, revenue, CTR, and conversion rate for easier performance analysis.
  • A confirmation step has been added before sending push notifications, helping reduce the risk of accidental sends.

These updates work harmoniously to make push notification management more efficient and reliable. As a store owner, you’re able to work smoothly and with confidence, analyze performance effectively, and send campaigns with greater control.

What problem did this solve?

Managing push notifications lacked flexibility and visibility. Scheduled sends couldn’t be edited, meaning even small changes required recreating entire campaigns, which understandably caused frustration for many merchants. Reviewing performance was also limited with few options to sort or filter past notifications, meaning analysis was slower and less structured.

In addition, there was a risk of accidentally sending notifications immediately without a clear final confirmation step, which could lead to unintended sends that would appear on customers’ phones.

Since push notifications are a key marketing tool within the mobile app, we wanted to significantly improve this experience to better support you in running high-quality campaigns. Through better day-to-day workflows, store owners are able to deliver more effective, timely notifications that drive engagement and ultimately increase sales from customers.

What’s Next?

  • Mobile Onboarding - We’re introducing mobile onboarding to help you guide your customers towards push notification opt-in and re-engage those who have unsubscribed.
  • Analytics Dashboard Rework - We’re overhauling the analytics dashboard to deliver more reliable data and clearer insights you can trust.
  • Klaviyo Integration - We’re building a Klaviyo integration to enable advanced segmentation and bring push notifications into your existing marketing flows.
