The Buzz - StoreLab Newsletter July 2026

Hello and welcome back to the StoreLab newsletter 👋

There’s some exciting updates to share with you this month - we’ve been focused on helping you better understand your customers’ shopping behavior, create more branded app experiences, and make the checkout journey faster and smoother.

Throughout July, we’ve…

  • Launched the Engagement Tab in Analytics
  • Integrated StoreLab with Klaviyo
  • Accelerated checkout with Apple Pay
  • Introduced Custom Fonts within the app builder
  • Delivered behind-the-scenes reliability & stability improvements

In this newsletter, we’ll walk you through what’s changed, why it matters, and how these enhancements can help you create a better in-app experience for both you and your customers.

Let’s jump right in!

Analytics | Engagement Tab

What did we change & what’s the value?

We’ve launched the Engagement Tab in Analytics, giving you a new layer of visibility into how customers actually use your app - not just whether they make a purchase.

Previously, this information was spread across multiple tabs, making it harder to navigate and uncover valuable insights. Now, the redesign brings everything together in one place with a cleaner, more intuitive layout, where it’s easier for data to be explored, read, and acted on.

The Engagement Tab surfaces 5 key metrics:

  • Active Users - how many customers are genuinely using your app on a monthly basis.
  • Average Session Length - how long customers spend in the app per visit, a strong signal of browsing depth and product interest.
  • Total Installs - app adoption over time, so you can see whether your download activity is growing.
  • App Activity Heatmap - a day-by-day, hour-by-hour view of when your customers are most actively in the app, so you can time your push notifications for maximum impact.
  • Sessions by Source - a breakdown of where your app traffic comes from - including organic, push notifications, and abandoned cart flows - so you can see exactly how much activity each source is driving.

What problem did this solve?

Every Shopify store owner has questions they can’t always answer. The Engagement Tab gives you the data to answer them with confidence:

  • When should I schedule my push campaigns? App activity shows you exactly when your customers are most active in the app, broken down by day and hour.
  • Are push notifications actually driving traffic, or is it all organic? Sessions by Source reveals the split between traffic sources, so you can see the direct impact of every campaign you send.
  • Are my design or product changes having a positive effect? Trends in average session length over time reflect whether updates to your app experience are increasing or decreasing customer engagement.
  • Is my app growing in the right direction? With Total Installs, you can monitor download trends and activity, and see whether your app is continuing to attract new users.
  • Are my customers actually using the app, or just downloading it? The gap between Total Installs and Active Users tells you whether customers are returning after their initial download.

Where can I find it?

Head to Analytics in the StoreLab dashboard and select the Engagement Tab.

Klaviyo Integration

What did we change & what’s the value?

The StoreLab platform now integrates with Klaviyo, bringing mobile push notifications into the same place you manage and run your email and SMS campaigns.

Once connected, your opted-in app users automatically sync to Klaviyo as a push-reachable audience, so that push notifications are incorporated seamlessly into your existing marketing strategy.

By adding push notifications to your Klaviyo flows, you can reach the right customers across all three owned channels at the right moment - without having to manually send the same message three times.

What problem did this solve?

If you already use Klaviyo, you can now add push directly into your existing flows and campaigns using what you already know: Klaviyo’s flow builder, segmentation, and scheduling tools.

There’s no new platform to learn, no need to rebuild your existing journeys, and no disruption to the marketing setup you’ve already created.

Where can I find it?

Head to Integrations in the StoreLab platform and connect your Klaviyo account. Your opted-in app users will start syncing immediately, and push will appear as a channel option inside your Klaviyo flows and campaigns.

ApplePay | Accelerated Checkout

Pro Subscription Required

What did we change and what’s the value?

Apple Pay is now available on the Cart page of your StoreLab app, giving customers a faster, one-tap checkout experience using the payment details already saved on their device.

Reducing friction at checkout is one of the most direct levers for improving conversions. By removing the need for customers to manually enter card and delivery details, Apple Pay turns checkout into a simple confirmation step for shoppers who already have it enabled.

What problem did this solve?

Checkout abandonment remains one of the biggest challenges in mobile commerce. The more steps between a customer deciding to purchase and completing their order, the more opportunities there are for them to drop off.

Accelerated checkout helps close that gap by removing unnecessary steps and making it quicker and easier for customers to complete their purchase.

Where can I find it?

Apple Pay is available for Pro users and will appear automatically on the Cart page once enabled. Simply head to Settings in your web app to switch it on and start offering customers a faster checkout experience!

Custom Fonts

What did we change and what’s the value?

You can now upload custom fonts directly to your StoreLab app, giving you more control over how your app looks and feels whilst keeping your typography fully aligned with your brand guidelines.

What problem did this solve?

Until now, merchants were limited to using Google Fonts in their app design.

For brand-focused stores, font choice isn’t a small detail, it plays a huge part in creating an omnichannel customer experience. If your website uses a custom typeface, having a different font in your app creates a disconnect that’s immediately noticeable to anyone who cares about brand consistency.

Where can I find it?

Go to Design → Theme Settings → Typography, select your Font Family, and you’ll see a new Custom Tab where you can now upload your own font packs!

Behind The Scenes

Alongside this month’s bigger feature releases, our team has continued to work hard behind the scenes to keep the StoreLab platform stable and reliable:

  • We’ve improved test coverage to catch issues earlier and reduce the risk of regressions.
  • We’ve been making general bug fixes and stability improvements across the mobile experience.

What’s Next?

Analytics Enhancements - Push Tab

We’re continuing to build out the Analytics experience with a dedicated Push Tab, giving you a clear view of how your push notifications perform as a revenue channel. This includes push-attributed sessions, purchases, opt-in rate, CTR, and abandoned cart recovery.

Enhanced Push Opt-In Journeys

We’re expanding the opt-in experience with softer, non-intrusive prompts that appear at natural moments in the browsing journey, such as on the homepage and within the wishlist. This complements the existing high-intent triggers to catch more customers earlier, without disrupting the shopping experience.
